Sunday 30th January – bike ***** – Around Felixstowe including lunch with ‘Emily’ – sunny with great sunset :)

After yesterday’s full-on foil/fin windsurf sessions making the most of Storm Malik with winds gusting to 40 knots my poor old heel was really playing up despite all the exercises I have been doing lately and I could hardly get up the stairs to bed last night. Luckily this morning I woke with it with it feeling slightly better meaning I could continue to do my exercises and as it was such a lovely day, wall to wall sunshine with light winds, amazing really after yesterday’s strong wind with more gales hitting the UK tonight! It was too good a day not to do something and with walking difficult for me at the moment we decided to head over to see ‘Emily’ again at our favourite Falkenham Church! Lunch was easy a flask of hot water for cuppa soup and a couple of tangerines, leaving home around 12.20 we headed inland avoiding the very busy prom, in fact we only saw a few walkers the whole bike ride, just how we like it:) Down past the Grove Park to Marsh Lane and onto Kings Fleet where we spotted a huge flock of geese grazing in a field of winter wheat! There were several swans actually on the water on Kings Fleet so I rode over to take some pics and was treated to a fly past of swans as they took to the air right in front of me, just amazing! Continuing up the farm track with lovely trees set against the deep blue sky, just perfect and reached Falkenham Church to find our seat free once again. The snowdrops are now in full bloom so I set about taking a few pics before enjoying our picnic in complete peace and quiet with the usual stunning views down to the Deben with several little birds flitting about in the trees! Well rested we continue on our way to Kirton, then Trimely and the temperature has definitely dropped now. Down Grimston Lane spotting a few deer before taking the tree lined path back to Felixstowe. Another top bike ride around Felixstowe enjoying the best that Felixstowe has to offer.
Tomorrows wind is coming from the NW, cold too so I will save myself till Tuesday when I can hopefully get my first session of February at my favourite winter venue, Levington Marina!

PS - we were then treated to a fantastic sunset :)
